Aldana Skinny Shaker - Elephants Breath & Brassica

Farnham

We had a lot of fun designing this kitchen as part of an entire house renovation project in Farnham. The house hadn’t been touched for years and the old kitchen was very closed-off from the rest of the living area so the plan was to knock down one of the walls and open up into the dining area, without creating a stark big open plan space – clear zones remain to help distinguish each area from each other giving the best of both worlds when needed.

We needed to create a kitchen fit for a young family, who love to cook, as well as an ideal space for entertaining friends. With space at a premium (with no realistic space for an island), and as we were losing an important wall’s worth of storage we opted for a unique peninsula design, linked to masses of tall storage for everything from occassionally used small appliances, to toy overflow storage!
With the dining table in such close proximity it didn’t make sense to go for breakfast bar seating at the peninsula so we maximised the storage with cabinets front and back, and created a really lovely separate bar area under the window – topped off with a feature bifolding window with the quartz worktop running deep into the window recess perfect for sharing a few drinks, inside and out!

Modern features including induction Rangemaster cooker, Quooker boiling tap, waste disposal and hardwearing composite Purquartz sink give this kitchen all the mod-cons for busy family living.
We stacked the microwave in one of the tall Brassica units to provide as much valuable worktop space as possible (the tall Brassica units were customised to a reduced depth to ensure the walkthrough/preparation space was wide enough for busy moments in the kitchen).

Opposite the tall storage units we implemented a vast refridgerated storage area, including a tall built-in column fridge hidden behind a bespoke panelled cabinetry door, wine/beer fridge, and 2x built-under freezers again fully integrated and hidden away behind matching shaker doors.

The bespoke antique mirrored spashback finishes the look perfectly, not only giving the illusion of more space and natural light, but also making it much more sociable when putting the final touches to dinner for guests (not to mention keeping an eye on the little ones at dinner time!)

Client Feedback

“Ella Austin provided a 1st class service from start to finish. Steve made the whole process extremely easy, from our 1st meeting to discuss ideas and what we would like from the space, through to production and installation.

My wife and I are keen cooks and with a busy family life the space needed to be practical, functional but also a space you wanted to spend time in and enjoy. Steve and his team delivered on all points. The job came in on time, in budget and the finish is superb.

I would highly recommend Steve and his team at Ella Austin.
